Map and Compass Course

This map and compass course will be provide instruction on how to use a compass, a map, and a map and compass together.  You can finally learn the difference between true north and magnetic north!  A limited amount of compasses and maps will be available if you don’t have your own.  There will be plenty of time for questions and working in small groups. 
 
If you like to wander in the woods, this is the course for you!

Jim Walsh, the instructor, is a member of the Fitchburg Sportsman Club and a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC).  Jim is an avid hiker and outdoors person who has climbed all of the 4000 footers in the White Mountains in the summer and winter.  Jim is a 4 season hike leader in the White Mountains for the Worcester Chapter of the AMC.
